BUPA Great North Run

Gillian ran the 2010 BUPA Great North Run on 19.9.10.

Trisomy 18 touched our family’s life in November 2009. I had never heard of Edwards’ Syndrome, trisomy 18, before so I wanted to do a bit of research to help me understand the condition. I came into contact with SOFT UK and got so much help that I wanted to do some fundraising. The Great North Run is one of the worlds most popular half marathon road running events. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields in England.

I had a fantastic time! I met lots of lovely people, sang lots of 'oggy oggy oggies' and crossed the finish line at 3:45! I am very proud of what I achieved that day.  At the beginning of 2009 I was only a few pounds off 20 stone and through the help of my Slimming World consultant Sarah, I lost weight and gained confidence! My day was made that little bit more special when the mother of a beautiful little t18 angel met me at the finish line! Thank you Zoe for your support!

Please visit www.soft.org.uk if you would like to know more about the condition, if you do, make sure you have some hankies by your side. I’ve got to know some lovely and inspirational people through learning what trisomy 18 is, and I’d like to thank everybody who donated. I raised £131.79 on my Virgin Giving web page and £88 on a sponsor form. Thank you everyone. VERY MUCH
