If you are caring for a child with Trisomy13/18 or a related disorder, there are several additional benefits of membership.  SOFT sends Your Baby to carers with a baby, and the USA booklet Caring for a Child to parents with a child over the age of 12 months. Both these books contain invaluable information about medical and care issues pertinent to the children.

When you are listed as a member, you can be linked to other families in similar circumstances if you wish.  SOFT also has access to professionals who can help when problems arise in several areas including benefits, legal rights and issues concerning education, and residential planning for older children.

We will also notify you if we become aware of grants for which you may be eligible. Recently a Jeans for Genes grant paid the expenses of families who attended the SOFT UK Conference.

Sometimes SOFT is contacted by doctors and other professionals about research into T13/18 and related disorders.  Many families are keen to participate in such studies, so we will notify you if anything arises.  (Please note your membership details are confidential and we will not give out information without your permission)
