Being responsible for a child or young person means that you may be entitled to certain benefits and tax credits if your child has extra needs due to a disability, you may be entitled to more help.  Some of this help will be ‘means tested’ – that is, dependent on other money or income you have coming in.  Other sources of help are ‘non means tested’ and will only depend on your child’s needs.  The  articles aim to give you some idea of the benefits and tax credits you might be entitled to and also includes details of other sorts of financial help available and where to go for advice.
