SOFT UK celebrates Volunteers Week 2020

June 1st to 7th is Volunteers Week!  The special week dedicated to recognising the contribution makes to agencies, business and charities across the UK.

Volunteers Week is particularly important to SOFT UK, as almost all the work of the charity is done by volunteers, who share their skills with us and give up their time and energey to make things better for families affected by Trisomy.

Our Board of Trustees is made up of 11 volunteers who direct the charity towards its dreams and objectives and ensure the charity has good governance, which is a legal requirement.  Many of them also work actively on a day to day basis in areas such as Finance, Communications, Fundraising and Support.

We have a special Volunteers Week article about our Board of Trustees here

Our Support Team are Trisomy parents who have undertaken special training to enable them to support other families affected by Trisomy. Support Volunteers usually stay with SOFT UK for many years and support lots of families on an ongoing basis, as well as answering one-off enquiries.

The rest of the Volunteer Team undertake vital roles in Communications, Fundraising and IT and keep the charity running on a day to day basis. Every single contribution is important to our work and without their creativity, consistency and motivation the organisation could not do what we do.

You can read all their individual stories by following the links above.

During Volunteers Week we want to say a massive thankyou to all our volunteers (including the ones who were too shy to let me have a photo!)

If you see us shout out to them on our social media channels, please do drop a thankyou of your own!
