I didn’t know Trisomy 13 or 18 existed until my daughter Darcie was born. Suddenly, I was hearing the phrase “not compatible with life”, and I found myself on a mission to help ensure other parents didn’t have to hear those words.

I began advocating for Darcie and trying to show a more positive, and very much “compatible with life”, side to the condition. Views have started to change in the medical world since then, although we do still have a long way to go.

Along that journey, I naturally crossed paths with SOFT UK and was eventually invited to become a trustee. I’m honoured to have the role, and I hope my experiences can not only help shape SOFT UK, but also support other families on their own journeys.
