SOFT UK Trisomy Awareness Month 2026

March is Trisomy Awareness Month — a time to come together as families, friends, professionals, and supporters to raise awareness of Trisomy 13 (Patau’s syndrome) and Trisomy 18 (Edwards’ syndrome), to share real experiences, and to celebrate the strength and love within our community.

At SOFT UK, Trisomy Awareness Month is always something special. It’s a chance to amplify family voices, share knowledge, build connections, and ensure that no family facing a trisomy diagnosis feels alone.

This year, we have so much to share — from community events and family stories to new resources and exciting opportunities ahead.

What to Look Forward to This Month

Throughout March, we’ll be sharing and releasing:

  • New family and professional resources

  • Real family stories and lived experiences

  • Podcasts featuring parents and community voices

  • New videos and awareness content

  • Informative posts about Trisomy 13 and 18

  • A very exciting fundraising announcement — including our London Marathon 2027 places reveal

How You Can Get Involved

Last Trisomy Awareness Month, together we reached over 105,000 people with awareness and support messages. This year, we hope to reach even more families — and you are a vital part of that.

You can help by:

  • Liking, commenting on, and sharing SOFT UK posts

  • Sharing your own photos and stories and tagging SOFT UK

  • Joining us to share your experience on a podcast or video

  • Attending our events — online or in person

  • Setting up a fundraiser — your own or as part of our Awareness Month campaign

Why Fundraising Matters This Year

Your donations and fundraising make our work possible — and 2026 is a particularly important year for awareness.

SOFT UK is expanding its outreach and professional education, including:

  • Engagement at the Scottish Parliament

  • Presence at the Journal of British Midwifery Conference in England

  • Increased family support and awareness activities across the UK

Fundraising during Trisomy Awareness Month helps us bring family voices into professional spaces — changing understanding, improving support, and building a more informed future for families affected by Trisomy 13 and 18.
