Looking Ahead for SOFT UK in Northern Ireland

By Emma Carter

As this is my first year in post, I am excited for the year ahead for SOFT in Northern Ireland.

This year, we want to focus on what matters most: delivering meaningful support to individuals, families and the community we serve. We are committing to offering emotional and social support, educational opportunities and expanding access to resources.

Our vision for the year ahead will include:

  • New outreach groups- reaching various areas and communities in NI.

  • Enhanced support services- seeking new volunteers to further support families affected by Trisomy 13 and 18 and improved support system with a staff member now present in NI.

  • Partnership expansions-working with local charities and organisations to improve awareness of SOFT in NI and to collectively support our local families.

We are also looking forward to hosting online community events and our annual Northern Ireland Family Day, to bring those affected by Trisomy 13 and 18 together and spark deeper conversations about how we can make lasting change.

This is a year of possibility... here are a few ways to stay involved:

  • Volunteer your time to support local families.

  • Become a monthly donor to provide reliable, ongoing support.

  • Share our mission with your network to amplify awareness.

  • Attend our events and connect with others who care.

As we begin this new chapter, we're filled with optimism. With local support, we can create greater changes in the months ahead for all across our community.

Here's to a year of hope, impact and collective action.

Together, we can make a difference for all our Trisomy families.
